• VIRGINIA BROITMAN Virginia presents clicker training workshops around the country and is a faculty member of Karen Pryor Clicker Training Clicker Expo. She also writes articles for a variety of training publications, and was a contributing writer for Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior, Dog Trainer Program. Her own dogs have participated in a variety of activities, including pet therapy visits, agility competitions, herding, and TV/advertising work.
• Virginia is currently the head trainer at three prisons in central VA for SOS Pen Pals. This organization places shelter dogs with qualified inmates at prison facilities where they receive training and behavior modification before being adopted to the public. She has also trained several assistance dogs for hearing, mobility and autism assistance.
• Virginia co-produced the Bow Wow series of clicker training DVDs. These videos are the staples of the industry in providing clear, consistent examples of how to clicker train your dog. (www.takeabowwow.com) “The How of Bow Wow” was awarded the Dog Writers Association of America award for Best New Video in 2004. Virginia’s writing endeavors are many. These include NADOI: Fido Refined column on problem-solving and behavior, Clicker Journal, and KPCT on-line articles.
